The Putnei waterfall is a protected area of national importance, located in Vrancea county, on the territory of Tulnici commune, close to the village of Lepșa. Being a favorite place for many tourists, the Putnei Waterfall offers charming views in any season.
Located 72 km from Focșani, the Putnei Waterfall is easy to find by following the signs on the 2D national road, in the direction of Târgu Secuiesc.
The beauty of the waterfall comes from the way the river bed has been carved by the selective erosion of rocks and marmites, forcing the water to flow from one cavity to another. The waterfall has a length of 76 meters and a difference in level of 14 meters, the water accumulating in a lake with a depth of about 12 meters.
In 1973, the Putnei Waterfall was declared a Natural Monument, and the first facilities for visitors were installed at that time. Currently, the Putnei Waterfall is part of the Putna Vrancea Natural Park, being a sustainably managed area.
