The Daniil Sihastrul hermitage, inhabited by monks, is located near the village of Cuejdiu, Gârcina commune, Neamț county, in a secluded area, in a clearing surrounded by old forest, 14 kilometers from the city of Piatra-Neamț and 2 kilometers west of the Sihla monastery, near the place called Râpa lui Coroi. Here the hermit Daniil Sihastrul lived in isolation for a time in the second half of the 15th century.

In the first half of the 20th century, in the same place, the shemamonk Isodora lived a solitary life for over 30 years, who died in 1964. Also here, after 1944, two nuns – mother and daughter – lived in asceticism for approximately 35 years: the shemamonk Valentina Neacșu and the nun Emiliana, who died in 1979.

In 1980-1981, the monk Sofronie Șarampoi settled here and, through his efforts, a house and a chapel were built. Between 1992 and 1996, a wooden church was built, with three patron saints: “Saint Prophet Elijah the Thessalonian”, “The Covering of the Mother of God” and “Saint Venerable Daniil the Hermit”; it was consecrated on August 4, 1996.

During the same period, with the involvement of Archimandrite Victorin, brother of Daniil Caia, two buildings were built for the cells, the bell tower, the place for the consecration of water (the aghiasmatar), the kitchen and the dining room (the refectory).
