The vestiges of the Roman aqueduct are mentioned by Dr. Alexandru Popoviciu in the work Băile lui Hercule or Scaldele de le Meedia", the first work in Romanian about the Băile Herculane resort, published in 1872, in Pest: Among the ancient Roman buildings, there are still two fragments of the Roman aqueducts, which can be seen from the spring of drinking mineral water, called Carlsbun.
The Roman aqueduct was intended to transport thermal water from one of the springs in the area of the Roman Baths (springs from the Hercules group) to Apollo Baths (Baia Mare, Baia de Şindrilă)
