On the banks of the stream, there is a town called Viștea. Here, a dance team was born, established in 1918, which participated in various folk song and dance competitions, both at home and abroad, including in London and Stockholm, obtaining meritorious distinctions.
In 1877, lieutenant Stanciu Dumitru from Viștea went as a volunteer in the war of independence. He was part of the 1st battalion, led by Valter Mărăcineanu, and stood out for his bravery and courage in the assault on the Grivița II redoubt, where he was seriously wounded. He also participated in the battles of Rahova and was decorated with distinctions such as the "Star of Romania" in the rank of knight, the "Military Virtue" in gold, the "Crossing of the Danube" and the "Defenders of Independence".

Tradition says that the Orthodox church in the village of Viștea de Jos, considered an architectural monument, is associated with the voivodes of Wallachia, descendants of Mircea the Elder, who also ruled the land of Făgăraş. It is claimed that Mircea the Elder settled here, in Viștea de Jos, on the Costea nobleman, who would have supported the initial construction of the church.
Initially, the church was smaller, but after 1820 the nave and the tower were added. The building is made of stone and brick, presenting at the window arches specific elements of the old Romanian style and of the Gothic style. According to an inscription, the painting was made in 1819 by Pantelimon, a well-known craftsman who was also active in the Argeș region at that time.
Known as the "Old Church", the church of St. Archangels in Viștea de Jos preserves its nave and altar from the original construction, erected in the 15th century. In a note from 1785, this building is mentioned as "the Church the old one".
The monument houses paintings by the painter Pantelimon in 1819, and the pronaos and tower were added after this year.
